StayHome Festival, the online solidarity festival launched in Belgium, expands and goes international

At the end of March, a group of artists and event professionals launched a local, online festival to support the Belgian music scene during the confinement period, by broadcasting concerts by Belgian artists on Facebook and appealing for donations. 7 concerts and 15,000 spectators later, the initiative won over the US embassy in Brussels, which decided to join the project and extend it to American artists.

“With this initiative we wanted to showcase our talents and create a surge of solidarity towards artists and entertainment professionals, who have been heavily impacted by the current situation,” explain organizers Musevent. “The public responded and the embassy contacted us to replicate the initiative with American artists”.

The American line-up includes 5 established American artists, including jazz saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin (discovered alongside Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder) and singer and radio host China Moses. The Belgian line-up, meanwhile, promises more than a dozen concerts over the coming weeks, to be announced as they unfold.
